Post-It Note Tuesday

I'm a slightly better me...

This is me last summer.  It's the only photo I could find of me that shows me from the neck down. I avoided photos! But here's my fatness, even though I'm desperately trying to hide my gut. I know there's this photo of me riding on my parents' tractor where I look like whale, but I think I deleted it.  I was 186 lbs.  I know some of you may weigh more than that, but I'm 5'5" & that's the fattest I've ever been (except when I was pregnant).  It did not feel good. I had no waist. My clothes did not fit. I did not like looking at myself in the mirror.    :(

 This is me today.  Two days before my 30th birthday. :)  I ran my very first 5K today & I finished it in 39:51!  On Mother's Day this year, I started the "Couch to 5K" program & I stuck with it (for the most part).  I decided it was time to get off my ass & get some exercise.  I did not diet.  I don't do sit ups. I still eat cheese for lunch & ice cream before bed.  I just got off my ass & started running on my treadmill three times a week.  I've lost 10 lbs, 2 sizes, and several inches.  I'm far from skinny, but I've made a couple of simple changes in my life & I don't hate myself anymore. :)  I also feel better, I sleep better, I have more energy, I can wear SOME of my pre-pregnancy clothes again, and I make better choices for my kids & me.  We've cut back on the fast food & I make sure we eat more fruits & veggies. 

I really just wanted to post this b/c I know some of you have read on my FB page about how I've been running & you might think that you can't do it.  But you can.  I'm lazy.  I love food.  I hate exercise.  But I got off my ass & now I'm a slightly better me. :)

"I invented Post-its!"  Sorry, I had to.  I love that movie. :)

OK, "Post-It Note Tuesdays" is new to my blog.  I stole it from Scotti a.k.a. Inner Hooker... who most likely stole it from someone else.  Ha ha, just kidding. :)

So, this is how it works... instead of rambling on and on, kind of like I'm doing right now, I'll sum up a few of my thoughts on these fun little post-its instead.  Enjoy.

Besides Facebook and/or your shop sites (because I know most of my blog readers are fellow artisans), what website(s) do you spend a lot of time on?  Are there any sites I should know about that might keep me entertained?  Any good sites where I can find good sales?

Favorite Free Stuff -- GOOGLE

Today's blog is also kind of a rant... but some of you might find it amusing.   LOL

I hear a lot of people asking the most ridiculous questions and I cringe.  OK, I used to be a teacher & I'm SUPPOSED to think "There's no such thing as a dumb question." or "The only dumb question is the one you never ask." but I'm far to annoyed by said dumb questions to be that nice.  LOL

First of all, that little rectangle at the top of your open internet window is called a "search box".  GOOGLE IT.  You can pretty much find the answer to ANY QUESTION IMAGINABLE that way.  All of life's mysteries explained... AND you can avoid looking like a moron.

Seriously, I have this acquaintance who asks "What's That??" EVERY SINGLE TIME someone types something on FB.  It goes a lot like this: 

Susan:  I just bought a new cardigan pattern today.
Most people:  Nice!
Dumbass:  What's a cardigan?
Me:  Google it.

Jenny:  I wish I had a Roomba so I never had to vacuum again.
Most people:  Me too.
Dumbass:  What's a Roomba?
Me:  Google it.

Danyel:  I can correctly spell "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious".
Most people:  LOL
Dumbass:  How did you get so smart?
Me:  I use Google.  ;)

Treasury Fun - Legs & Feet

I'm going to keep up with my blog, I promise.  I've put together some fun new topics for my blog schedule & it should keep things interesting... even if I don't have much to say. 

So today is Treasury Fun Thursday.  Yesterday my baby legwarmers were included in this funky "Legs & Feet" treasury.  It's definitely the most interesting treasury I've been in....

Stitching Blackout?

<---  I just finished up a newsboy cap this morning, which is just a Levi Hat with a strap sewn on the front.  As I'm finishing off the last few stitches of the strap, I suddenly realized that I don't even remember making it.  I had a stitching blackout!  No, but seriously, I've made so many of these hats that I think I can do it in my sleep!  LOL

So I'm wondering... is there anything that you've made SO many of that you sometimes just "blackout" and create while in a daze?  Discuss....

"Friend" Invites... a rant

One thing that bugs me about FB is that people are allowed to make personal pages using their business names.... and what bugs me more is when they try to be "friends" with me.  I know WHY people make personal pages... so they can get notifications.  But why do you think it would be OK for you to have access to all of my personal information & photos of my children, but the only thing you're willing to share is your first name & some photos of your products?   No.  Not fair. 

I have "friended" lots of the great artisans that I've met through FB fan pages!  I have made really good friends with some of my fellow crocheters!  I will become friends with "Linda Smith"... I will NOT become friends with "Linda's Jewelry Shop".  Sorry.  I'm sure you're a perfectly nice person, but if you can't "friend" me from your REAL account, then don't bother.
