CROCHET PATTERN - Headband w/ Yarn Daisy

Use up some scraps to make a cute little headband!  They're cute for babies, kids & adults!

MATERIALS:  H hook, 2 colors of WW yarn, 1" button.

SIZE:  Make any size headband you want.  The flower is about 3" wide.

DIFFICULTY:  Insanely easy.

First, measure the head of the person you're giving this to.  If it's for a newborn, the head is about 14".  Subtract 1.5 - 2" & that's how long your headband should be.

*HEADBAND*

Ch 5.
Row 1:  1 sc in 2nd ch from hook & remaining 3 sts.  (4 sc)  <-- This makes a 1" wide headband.  If you want it wider, begin with a longer starting chain.

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (4 sc)

Keep repeating Row 2 until your headband is the length you want it.  Remember that you'll want it to be a little snug, and the yarn will stretch, so don't make it too long.  When the headband is the desired length, fasten off yarn & use the tail to sew the 2 ends together.  You could also slip stitch them together if you want, but that will leave a bump.  Don't worry if you can't sew them straight... we're going to cover up the ugly seam with the flower! :)

*FLOWER*

Start with magic ring/sliding loop (or ch-4/join).
Ch 1, 8 sc in loop, join.

Ch 10 (or more), sl st in same st as join.
*Ch 10, sl st in next sc.  Ch 10, sl st in same sc.*  Repeat 8 times.  Ch 10, sl st in base of 1st ch, fasten off.  (You should have 16 "petals".)

Use the yarn ends to sew flower to headband.  Sew it right on top of the seam so it doesn't show.

Finally, sew a coordinating button to the center of the flower.  You're done.  Piece of cake!  :)

I Love Rainbows!

Besides my family & friends, Rainbows are my #1 favorite things ever.  Ever.  What's my favorite color?  RainbowI can't resist anything rainbow colored.  Seriously, I have to stop myself from buying everything rainbow online.  Rainbows make me smile.  Colors make me happy.  I probably smiled the entire time I was working on this hat. --->

I once jokingly told my husband that if I could have it my way, the only thing white in my house would be me.  (That joke was a reference to the decor, not actual people.  People of all colors are welcome in my home!)  One of my good friends even bought me an air freshener for my car that said, "I'm not gay, I just really love rainbows."  I think you get the idea.  :)

Here are several of the rainbow-colored items that made me smile today. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! :)

Another Awesome Artisan - PocketfulOfSunshine

Maria from PocketfulOfSunshine is truly an awesome artisan!  Her cards, invitations, stationery, thank you notes, and greeting cards are well-crafted, beautiful & some of them even come in Spanish!  I purchased a set of Business Card Thank You Notes from her a while back.  She customized them & they match my business cards so well!  I couldn't be happier!

Besides the fact that she makes truly beautiful paper creations, she's a spectacular person!  She puts together the weekly games over on CST, co-manages the CST blog, runs her own store, avidly promotes "Link Love" on FB, and is always very supportive of other artisans!

Please stop by PocketfulOfSunshine on Etsy, and if you're not already a fan, show Maria some love by becoming one on PocketfulOfSunshine on Facebook!  :)

Save your Soap... and Your Money!

These little soap saver pouches are fabulous!  I use one & I truly love it!

- They can hold a whole bar of soap, and will hold even the smallest slivers, so you won't waste any!  When your soap gets down to the last sliver, just put in a new bar & keep going.  (I do recommend that you wash it with your towels once in a while though.)

- The soap saver is made from cotton yarn, so you can use it like a bath puff... insert soap, wash your body, then hang it up to dry. It's even soft enough for elderly people and children!

- Using a soap saver & a bar of soap will save you money... liquid soap is expensive!

- The soap saver allows your soap to dry completely in between uses, so it doesn't get mushy & gross.

- If you drop the soap, the soap saver will make it WAY easier to pick up!

See... what's not to like?  Click here to customize your very own soap saver today!

CROCHET PATTERN - Baby Beanie w/ Flower

I usually just sit down and create... but here's a basic pattern for creating this little baby beanie. I don't usually count my stitches. Making a hat isn't an exact science. This pattern is for size 0-3 months, but you can just keep crocheting until it's the size you like. If it's too small, add an extra row or 2 of increase... if it's too big, take out a row. No big deal... just have fun! :) If you REALLY need some help, feel free to contact me. :)
This pattern is free & you can use it anywhere... but if you're going to make these to sell, please give me credit by providing a link to this blog in your listing! Also, please don't post my pattern on other sites, but feel free to provide a link back to this page instead. Thank you! :)

You'll need 2 colors of cotton or acrylic yarn.

Start with magic ring/sliding loop.

Round 1: Ch 1, Make 8 SC in loop, join with SS.

Round 2: Ch 1, Make 2 SC in each ST, join with SS.

Round 3: Ch 1, Make 2 SC in 1st ST, 1 SC in next, 2 SC in next... repeat around, join with SS.

Round 4: Ch 1, Make 2 SC in 1st ST, 1 SC in next 2... repeat around, join with SS.

Round 5: Ch 1, Make 2 SC in 1st ST, 1 SC in next 3... repeat around, join with SS.

Round 6: Ch 1, Make 2 SC in 1st ST, 1 SC in next 4... repeat around, join with SS.

Round 7: Ch 1, Make 2 SC in 1st ST, 1 SC in next 5... repeat around, DO NOT JOIN. At this point, your starting circle should be about 4" diameter for a newborn beanie.(I don't like that ugly seam that runs down the back of hats, so the rest of the hat is worked in a continuous spiral.)
Now: Ch 1, SC in next ST... Ch 1, skip 1, SC in next... repeat around and around, until the hat is about 3" from Round 7 to the bottom.

To fasten off, skip 1 ST and SS in next.

*Optional shell trim: Ch 1, SC in next ST, 4 DC in next ST, skip 1... SC in next, 4 DC in next, skip 1... around, join with SS to 1st SC.

*Optional flower: Start with magic ring/sliding loop, ch 1, make 6 SC in loop. With 2nd color, join with SC to any ST, ch 2, SC in next, ch 2, SC in next... repeat around, (don't join with SS... it makes a weird bump). Make 1 SC, 3 DC, 1 SC in each ch-2 SP to make the petals... join w/ SS and sew on to hat.
