CROCHET PATTERN - Headband w/ Yarn Daisy

Print Friendly and PDF
Use up some scraps to make a cute little headband!  They're cute for babies, kids & adults!

MATERIALS:  H hook, 2 colors of WW yarn, 1" button.

SIZE:  Make any size headband you want.  The flower is about 3" wide.

DIFFICULTY:  Insanely easy.

First, measure the head of the person you're giving this to.  If it's for a newborn, the head is about 14".  Subtract 1.5 - 2" & that's how long your headband should be.

*HEADBAND*

Ch 5.
Row 1:  1 sc in 2nd ch from hook & remaining 3 sts.  (4 sc)  <-- This makes a 1" wide headband.  If you want it wider, begin with a longer starting chain.

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (4 sc)

Keep repeating Row 2 until your headband is the length you want it.  Remember that you'll want it to be a little snug, and the yarn will stretch, so don't make it too long.  When the headband is the desired length, fasten off yarn & use the tail to sew the 2 ends together.  You could also slip stitch them together if you want, but that will leave a bump.  Don't worry if you can't sew them straight... we're going to cover up the ugly seam with the flower! :)

*FLOWER*

Start with magic ring/sliding loop (or ch-4/join).
Ch 1, 8 sc in loop, join.

Ch 10 (or more), sl st in same st as join.
*Ch 10, sl st in next sc.  Ch 10, sl st in same sc.*  Repeat 8 times.  Ch 10, sl st in base of 1st ch, fasten off.  (You should have 16 "petals".)

Use the yarn ends to sew flower to headband.  Sew it right on top of the seam so it doesn't show.

Finally, sew a coordinating button to the center of the flower.  You're done.  Piece of cake!  :)
